The Incas considered it the "sacred plant" 5000 years ago and defined it as the "mother of all seeds". For them it was a very important food and a fundamental part of the diet.
Organic Quinoa Real is a "superfood" typical of the Andean populations and found mainly in Bolivia and Peru. Its success in European markets is an opportunity of growth for all the local Bolivian populations. Small producers, however, need support, as they do not always have means and knowledge to meet the needs of the markets.
Hence the collaboration between Colfiorito, one of the major importers of Quinoa in Italy, and FAO which deals with the support and development of the cooperative network. Together, projects and development actions for small Bolivian producers are undertaken.
Quinoa Reàl seeds from organic farming, produced by small cooperatives in Bolivia.
It may contain traces of celery, sesame and mustard.
